And you thought the watch list season was over.
As ESPN’s Lee Corso would say, “Not so fast my friend!”
On Tuesday the Under Armour Senior Bowl watch list was released.
The Senior Bowl is a collection of the top college players that have completed their collegiate eligibility.
The Tennessee Volunteers were represented on the list with five seniors.
- Running Back – Rajion Neal
- Offensive Lineman – Jawuan James
- Defensive Lineman – Daniel McCullers
- Defensive Lineman – Jacques Smith
- Offensive Lineman – James Stone
The SEC led all conferences with 72 players on the list. The conference with the next most on the list was the ACC with 48 selections.
The Senior Bowl has been played since 1950 and features coaches from NFL teams. The squads are split into “North” and “South” teams.
Former Tennessee Volunteers coach Lane Kiffin coached the South team in 2008.
The Senior Bowl is more than just a game, it’s a weeklong scouting event that has propelled certain players to a higher draft status.
Some of the most famous Senior Bowl participants are: Terrell Owens, Jason Taylor, Joe Namath, Curtis Martin and Steve McNair.
In recent years MVP’s of the game have included: Phillip Rivers, Matt Forte, and the Butch Jones coached running back, Isaiah Pead.
