"With less than two weeks remaining until the season opener, the status of Tennessee’s passing attack remains up in the air.Tennessee coach Butch Jones says he hasn’t narrowed down the four-way quarterback competition. He also continues his search for consistent performers in an inexperienced receiving corps.“We’re still trying to establish who our playmakers are right now,” Jones said.Junior Justin Worley, the only candidate with any college playing experience, is competing with redshirt freshman Nathan Peterman and freshmen Joshua Dobbs and Riley Ferguson for the right to replace the departed Tyler Bray at quarterback. Worley made three starts in place of an injured Bray in 2011."

"At first glance, Butch Jones’ second Tennessee football schedule looks even tougher than his first. The SEC released its 2014 schedule Wednesday, and, in doing so, unleashed a debate as to which teams got a break and which got the shaft. The Vols didn’t get either.Still, a pragmatist could make a case that UT has at least a slightly tougher road to bowl eligibility in 2014 than it does in 2013.Start with the marquee non-conference game. It’s a wash. The Vols aren’t picked by anyone to get a win at Oregon. They won’t be picked by anyone to get a win at Oklahoma in 2014."

"When classes start for Tennessee on Wednesday, the rosters will expand and an influx of walk-ons will arrive. The Vols have one more practice before game week, but training camp will essentially end when professors start their lectures on Wednesday morning. What will the Vols look like as they embark on the 2013 season? Two senior reserves — defensive back Naz Oliver and linebacker Channing Fugate — departed this month. Fugate is transferring to Eastern Kentucky in his home state, while coach Butch Jones said he would support Oliver’s efforts to transfer elsewhere if he chooses. From the UT Daily BeaconThe Tennessee men’s basketball program welcomed point guard Antonio Barton to Knoxville this week.Barton is enrolled in fall classes at UT and will play for the Volunteers as a senior this season.A native of Baltimore, Md., Barton graduated from the University of Memphis earlier this month, earning his degree in just three years. He had been enrolled at UM since the 2010-11 academic year.In three seasons on the hardwood with the Tigers, Barton appeared in 95 games (31 starts) and averaged 21.4 minutes and 6.9 points per game while shooting .417 from 3-point range.Barton studied Sport and Leisure Management at Memphis and is enrolled in graduate level Sports Psychology classes at Tennessee.“We’re excited to have Antonio on board,” UT coach Cuonzo Martin said in a release. “He’s a very talented young man. He makes shots, he can make plays at the rim and he can really facilitate the offense. I like the way he defends. I’m ecstatic to welcome him to the program.”"
