Jalen Hurd, the standout five-star running back from Beech HS (Hendersonville), will miss the rest of his senior season at Beech after suffering a slight tear in his labrum in the team’s opener.
The injury shouldn’t hinder Hurd, who will be an early enrollee at Tennessee, next season.
Although the news is incredibly disappointing for the young running back, the fact that further injury was avoided is great news for Hurd.
Hurd is rated by 247Sports as a five-star running back and the top overall player in the state of Tennessee.
The 6’3″/220 lb running back injured himself early on Sunday in Beech’s game against Station Camp. Despite the injury, Hurd still carried the ball 21 times for 177 yards and three touchdowns in what amounted to a 42-39 victory for Beech.
Hurd is incredibly important to Butch Jones’ 2014 recruiting class, and is considered the “star” of the class by most recruiting analysts and fans.
Hurd had a litany of offers to choose from, before he committed to the University of Tennessee back in February. Some of those offers included SEC rivals: Alabama, Florida and Georgia.
