For the second day in a row a former Tennessee Volunteer has signed with a new team.

On Monday, former Vol Jacques McClendon signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

On Tuesday, linebacker Omar Gaither signed with the Atlanta Falcons, in the team’s effort to replace Sean Weatherspoon.

Weatherspoon, a starting lineback for the Falcons, went on the injured reserve/designated-to-return list today.

Gaither is a former fifth round draft pick of the Philadelphia Eagles. Over seven NFL seasons he’s amassed 334 tackles, six sacks and two interceptions.

The Falcons will be the fifth organization that Gaither has been with in his career. In addition to the Eagles, Gaither has also spent time with the Carolina Panthers, Oakland Raiders and Houston Texans.

Gaiter was a two-time Second Team All-SEC player during his time at the University of Tennessee.
