Yes, that title is legitimate.
Arian Foster admitted, during an upcoming EPIX documentary, that he took money while at Tennessee.
Foster said he had no money and it bothered him that he was playing in front of 107,000 fans, but going back do a dorm with an “empty fridge”.
Arian said his coach (which was Phillip Fulmer) once helped him and some others out by bringing them “50 tacos”
"“Then I walk back, and reality sets in. I go to my dorm room, open my fridge, and there’s nothing in my fridge. Hold up, man. What just happened? Why don’t I have anything to show for what I just did? There was a point where we had no food, no money, so I called my coach and I said, ‘Coach, we don’t have no food. We don’t have no money. We’re hungry. Either you give us some food, or I’m gonna go do something stupid.’ He came down and he brought like 50 tacos for like four or five of us. Which is an NCAA violation. [laughs] But then, the next day I walk up to the facility and I see my coach pull up in a brand new Lexus."
Before you get too worked up, this is more comical than anything.
The debate about players getting paid is one thing, but I doubt Foster was in such dire need of food that he was debating “doing something stupid”.
Football players have meal plans, that are included in their scholarship. Not to mention they typically get a food stipend before home and away games.
I doubt much comes of this, as far as an NCAA investigation goes.
Besides, Arian only likes tacos from San Diego
