Vols’ Offensive Line Isn’t Quite As Good As Advertised

This is not meant as a major sleight to the Vols’ offensive line. They’re a very solid unit and very good.

But they might not be quite as good as everyone was making them out to be coming into the season. Based on a quick snap judgement, I think the offensive line looked better last year under offensive line coach Sam Pittman.

The run-blocking actually seems to have progressed, but the pass-blocking may have regressed a little.

Against Georgia, the Vols gave up three sacks.

That’s not what you come to expect from what’s suppose to be the “best O-line in the SEC”. Especially against a Georgia defensive front that isn’t exactly a force.

The Vols O-line is good, but maybe they shouldn’t have been reading all of their own press during the off-season.
