Will Marlin Lane’s Role Really Increase?

Earlier this week Butch Jones said we’d see Marlin Lane’s role increase.

If you’re like me, you’ll believe it when you see it.

Lane has looked like the better runner, when healthy, this season. Yet Rajion Neal still keeps getting the bulk of the carries.

To be clear, Neal has been very effective this season, but against Missouri, Marlin Lane was clearly the better running back.

According to Jones, Lane is getting close to being 100% healthy.

With a completely healthy Lane on the horizon, Tennessee needs to make a concerted effort to feed the ball to him more often.

The Vols won’t have a chance to beat Auburn on Saturday if they fail to get the running game going.

In order to do that, Marlin Lane will have to be a key component in the Volunteers’ gameplan on Saturday.
