If there’s one position where the Vols need immediate help, it’s along the defensive line.
Tennessee got some more help on Saturday when three-star defensive lineman Dimarya Mixon committed to play at Tennessee.
Mixon originally signed with Nebraska, but did not qualify academically. He’ll be able to enroll at Tennessee in January.
Tennessee’s newest commit is from Mesquite, TX (West Mesquite). The 6’4″/263 lb DL is rated as a three-star recruit and the 40th overall defensive tackle.
Mixon also has offers from Auburn, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, West Virginia and Baylor, among others.
The Vols now have 30 2014 commits, the number that Butch Jones said they’d sign.
With three months remaining until National Signing Day, it’s highly unlikely that the Vols 2014 class will remain “as is”.
Players often decommit, or other situations arise so the Vols could still possibly have room for a guy like wide receiver Josh Malone.
