For folks that hadn’t been keeping up on Twitter, Butch Jones’ retweet on Wednesday night looked like a recruiting violation.

Jones retweeted that tweet from three-star offensive lineman Coleman Thomas, a 6’6″/305 lb offensive lineman from Max Meadows, VA.

Thomas was one of four players to take advantage of a new NCAA rule allowing them to sign their financial aid agreement early.

The agreement guarantees the player a scholarship at the respective school, but does not officially bind them to that school.

That apparently makes it ok for the coaching staff, and likewise the university, to acknowledge Thomas and other commits that sign their financial aid agreement early.

The other three players to sign their agreement this past weekend were Dontavius Blair, Jalen Hurd and Emmanuel Moseley.

All of these players are expected to be early enrollees — thus the reason for sighing the financial aid agreement.

Tennessee is expected to add as many as 12 early enrollees. They had five last season.
