The Tennessee Volunteers announced on Thursday they will open the 2015 season against UAB at LP in Nashville, TN on September 5.

LP Field is the home of the Tennessee Titans.

One can assume that this is Butch Jones’ continuing to deliver on his promise to “own the state of Tennessee”.

Jones certainly delivered on that promise on National Signing Day, signing 9 of the state’s top 11 prospects.

The Vols’ game against UAB is a game that would’ve typically been played at Neyland, but one can only imagine the hype and hysteria that will surround the game in Nashville.

Tennessee will still play seven home games in 2015. Their game at UCONN has been canceled in 2015, so one can only assume they’ll replace that date with a game at Neyland.

It’s a great move on the Vols’ part to expand in a territory that is suppose to be “owned” by Vanderbilt.

The Vols also have a game scheduled at Bristol Motor Speedway against Virginia Tech in 2016.
