The Tennessee Volunteers Sweet 16 run this year was extra-sweet for Cuonzo Martin, specifically because of the 36,000 fans that signed a petition to replace Martin with former UT coach Bruce Pearl.

Anyone with even a small amount of common sense and a little bit of logic knew that the “Bring Back Bruce” campaign was a waste of time, energy and effort.

But that didn’t stop folks from just assuming that Martin, who is now being courted by Marquette, would be fired.

For that reason, the Vols’ Sweet 16 run offered a bit of vindication for Martin.

With all of that in mind, let’s take a look at the most absurd Martin/Bruce Pearl tweet of the day.

Just like the Jon Gruden rumors in 2012, some folks don’t know when to let go. The “Bring Back Bruce” campaign never had substantial legs. Even if it did have legs, Pearl’s subsequent hiring at Auburn killed any hope of a reunion — at least for most of the 36,000.

Don’t stop believin’, Logan.
