There could only be one.
Out of 32 fierce competitors there was just one that was able to rise above all the rest.
And that one is Houston Kress (AKA @VolRumorMill) of Tennessee Sports Radio.
Kress, a number five seed in our inaugural Vols Media Bracket, proved that he was vastly underseeded and underrated. He cruised past media heavyweights such as Mike Strange, Brent Hubbs and Reed Carringer, before taking on his TSR colleague Andrew Darago in the Final Four. Kress of course moved on to face the mighty Wes Rucker of 247Sports in the finals.
Rucker is one of the most well-known Tennessee beat writers on the planet and has built a following that rivals those of the very athletes he covers.
Kress, who produces the Erik Ainge Show and occasionally fills in for the former Volunteer quarterback, was more than up to the task of taking down Rucker. He collected 77% of the votes in the final round. What we expected to be a close a battle, turned out to be a blowout.
Congratulations to Houston Kress and a big thank-you to all of those who participated, retweeted and had fun with this thing.
We’ll do it again next year folks.
