The University of Tennessee announced today that the Vols football home opener against Utah State will be moved from Saturday, August 30th to Sunday, August 31st at 7 PM.

The new schedule will also move the city’s annual Boomsday fireworks show to Saturday evening.

The game will be televised on the new SEC Network, and it is one of the more anticipated games of the opening weekend of college football.

When the Knoxville News Sentinel asked about the move, coach Butch Jones seemed more than excited for the opportunity.

"“With Boomsday on Saturday and our season opener on Sunday, the atmosphere and energy in Knoxville will be unrivaled. We’re also excited about being one of the schools featured on the first weekend of SEC Network football telecasts, and we are looking forward to this tremendous opportunity.”"

Fans will have to wait an additional day to see their Vols in action, but the SEC Network is sure to provide more fanfare than usual for an opening football game.
