According a report from Gary Parish of CBS Sports, Tennessee Volunteers forward Jarnell Stokes will forgo his senior season and enter the NBA draft.
Parish reports that Stokes has scheduled a press conference for Friday afternoon, where he’ll announce his intentions.
Stokes averaged a career high 15.1 points per game and 10.5 rebounds per game this past season. He holds the single season record for rebounds at Tennessee with 359 this past season.
The Memphis native also tied Bernard King’s school record of 22 double-doubles in a season.
It’s not a big surprise at all that Stokes is turning pro. It’s hard to pass up a sure thing, especially the way we’ve seen draft stocks fade in recent years after a less than stellar senior season.
Stokes’ assumed departure will leave the Volunteers with two open scholarships next season.
