On Thursday night reports surfaced that Jarnell Stokes planned to forgo his senior season and enter the NBA draft.
Stokes confirmed those reports on Friday at a called press conference.
The power forward from Memphis, Tennessee said Cuonzo Martin was supportive of his decision to go pro. Stokes said he also reached out to former Tennessee Volunteer Tobias Harris.
Harris, in the words of Stokes, told him he should “come out”.
Stokes has yet to sign with an agent, but says he has a few in mind.
Obviously the loss of Stokes will leave big shoes to fill.
The Vols were able to control the rebound advantage this past season. That’s something that could give them some problems now with Stokes and Jeronne Maymon out of the picture.
The Vols now have two scholarships available for next season.
Looking for a transfer player could be an option for Martin and the Vols.
