Freshman wide receiver Josh Malone has been overshadowed by fellow newcomer Von Pearson in the receiving corps due to Pearson’s knack for exciting plays, but Malone has put together a solid spring and has looked better than the average freshman receiver throughout spring practices.
Boy, did he have a coming out party Saturday.
Malone was the recipient of some good quarterback play Saturday, and he made some impressive moves himself on his way to 6 catches for 118 yards and 3 scores.
Two of his TD’s came on perfectly placed passes by Joshua Dobbs, one going for 49 yards and the other going for 79 yards on an immaculately placed bomb.
Malone showed his speed, athleticism, and route running, and the Vols receiving corps will be far more talented and deep this season than last season.
