Kahlil McKenzie, a 6’4″/316 lb four-star defensive tackle from Concord, CA (De La Salle) revealed his top five schools on Saturday.
Wisconsin and Tennessee were the only schools east of the Mississippi to make the California native’s top five.
According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, McKenzie is the 7th best player in the state of California and the 7th overall defensive tackle in the nation.
McKenzie unofficially visited Tennessee on April 18, according to 247Sports.
Tennessee’s defensive line woes are well documented. The Vols were terrible at getting pressure on the quarterback in 2013. With their entire starting defensive line now gone, it doesn’t look like it will be any better in 2014.
McKenzie would be a huge boost for UT in 2015 and 2016, the first two years the Vols are really expected to compete for the SEC east crown under Butch Jones.
