"For the last 13 years, John Brady could count on the same phone call every year before the basketball season tipped off.Ever since the current coach at Arkansas State hired Donnie Tyndall as an assistant coach shortly after taking the head-coaching job at LSU in 1997, Brady has received a call from Tennessee’s new head coach. The reason? Then a 26-year-old whose only coaching experience at the time came at the junior college level, Tyndall thanks Brady for giving him his first opportunity to be a Division I coach.“Never fails,” Brady told the Times Free Press via phone on Thursday. “That in a small way is what he’s about on a bigger scale. He gets it, and I think the people there [at Tennessee] are going to really respond to him once they get to know him.”"

"Kentucky senior pitcher/infielder Lauren Cumbess tossed four strong innings in the circle and launched her eighth home run of the season, while freshman pitcher Meagan Prince came on in relief to toss three scoreless innings with four strikeouts, leading No. 9 Kentucky to a 5-2 series-evening win against No. 8 Tennessee.Kentucky (40-10, 13-7 Southeastern Conference) got an impressive performance in the circle and at the plate from Cumbess to start the game with the senior belting a two-run home run in the second inning before tossing four innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts. Cumbess gave way to Prince to start the fifth inning with the freshman silencing the Lady Vols the rest of the way, allowing only three hits with four strikeouts in the scoreless outing. Prince threw a dominating sixth inning, striking out the side after UK had taken a two-run lead. The two hurlers combined to only allow the high-powered Tennessee offense to score two runs, which marked only the seventh time this season and third time in conference action that UT has been held to two or less runs. Cumbess and Prince combined for eight strikeouts, which is only the seventh time this season and third in league action that UT has been struck out eight or more times."

"Down 3-2 heading to the eighth, Tennessee scored two runs in each of the final two frames to snap a seven-game losing streak to LSU on Saturday night, as the Vols evened the series by handing the sixth-ranked Tigers a 6-3 loss in front of 8,121 at Alex Box Stadium. The win by Tennessee improves the Big Orange to 26-15 overall and 8-12 in Southeastern Conference action. It was the first victory over LSU since April 19, 2009, when UT took a 9-4 decision in Baton Rouge. It’s also just the fourth home loss of the season for the Tigers, who fall to 32-11-1 overall and 11-8-1 in league play.“I’m proud of [the team],” said head coach Dave Serrano. “Before we got off the bus today I talked to them about expecting to win. I told them, `Don’t get off this bus if you don’t expect to win this series.’ We’re only halfway done with it – we have another challenge tomorrow – but I’m proud of how they responded. That was a tough game in many facets. We made pitches when we had to; we had good at-bats when we had to. I’m proud of them.”"
