JaRon Toney, a fifth year senior from Alcoa, TN, is leaving the Tennessee Volunteers football program, according to a report from Evan Woodbery of the Knoxville News Sentinel.
Toney had one year of eligibility remaining after redshirting his true freshman season in 2010.
The Tennessee native appeared in 28 games during his career at Tennessee. He started 10 of those games, including six this past season.
Toney began his career as a running back, before making the transition to defensive back in 2012. He accumulated 74 yards on 31 carries in 2011.
As a defensive back, Toney finished his career with 79 tackles.
Toney’s experience as a nickelback will be missed in 2014.
The Vols’ are full of youth on both sides of the ball and anytime you lose a guy with SEC experience, the effects will be felt throughout the team.
JaRon Toney is majoring in Arts & Sciences according to UTsports.com
