Jason Carr, a former four-star defensive lineman, will transfer from Tennessee, according to multiple reports.

Carr was recruited by former Tennessee head coach Derek Dooley, but signed with the Vols under current head coach Butch Jones.

The Memphis, TN native appeared in three games during his freshman season. He made one assisted tackle in 2013.

The Volunteers moved Carr to the offensive line during spring practice, but that transition was not proving to be productive.

It was a big deal in 2013 when Jones was able to hold on to Carr. At the time he was considered an essential part of a not so great 2013 recruiting class.

Carr’s failure to live up to his four-star rating is just another example of how recruiting rankings essentially mean very little at the end of the day.
