When Donnie Tyndall left Southern Miss, he left behind a six man signing class for the Golden Eagles, and he said he would not pursue any of those players unless they first were released from their National Letters of Intent.

At least one of the six signees has declared his intention to be released, as 3-star forward Willie Carmichael has asked for and been released from his NLI from Southern Miss.

The 6-7 guard out of Florida has said playing for Tyndall and the Vols would be one of his top options if the Vols expressed interest in him.

Tyndall is familiar with the forward whom he had recruited at his previous school, having this to say about Carmichael in a Southern Miss press release after Carmichael signed on Nov. 21, 2013:

"Willie is a long, athletic, front-line player. He can play a couple different positions. He’s a great athlete who plays with a high motor. He reminds me of a young Kenneth Faried, in that he plays extremely hard. He runs the floor and is not afraid to compete at the highest level."

Carmichael’s familiarity with Tyndall and his desire to play for him may very well mean he signs with the Vols before May 21st, and his tall, athletic frame would be a welcome addition for the Vols.
