Despite a shaky start, Donnie Tyndall has had one heck of a week at Tennessee.
After picking up a couple of commitments earlier in the week, Tyndall was able to lock down guard Robert Hubbs.
Hubbs considered asking for a release from the UT program, but ultimately he has decided to stay in Knoxville.
A once bleak situation heading into the 2014-15 season now doesn’t look so bad.
Hubbs played in 12 games last season, but had season ending shoulder surgery in January.
In those 12 games, however, Hubbs averaged 5.3 points a game and 18.3 minutes a game.
He was expected to be leaned on heavily this season, which made retaining him so important for the Volunteers.
Tyndall still has some work to do, but he’s got a solid base of guys to work with next season.
The 2014-15 season might not be so bad afterall.
