The Pittsburgh Steelers selected former Tennessee Volunteers defensive lineman Daniel McCullers in the sixth round with the 215th overall selection.
McCullers played two years at Tennessee after transferring from Georgia Military College.
The Raleigh, NC native had 72 total tackles during his career at Tennessee.
McCullers, who was one of the biggest players in the SEC last season, had a tendency to underachieve while at Tennessee. With his massive size he should’ve been a dominant defensive tackle, but that wasn’t always the case.
He does, obviously, have a lot of potential. If there’s a perfect place for a huge defensive tackle with untapped potential to go, it’s the Pittsburgh Steelers.
McCullers will have to get in better shape and take less plays off at the next level. If he can get himself in good condition, he can be a starting nose tackle.
If, however, he chooses to disappear at times like he did in college, then his NFL career will be short lived.
