Former Tennessee Volunteers linebacker Dontavis Sapp signed with the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday, shortly after going undrafted.
Sapp tweeted the news himself.
Sapp started all 12 games during his senior season as the Vols’ weakside linebacker. He accumulated 66 tackles in 2013, which was good enough for third on the team.
The Valdosta, GA native finished his career with 108 tackles, including 11.5 tackles for loss.
Sapp goes to a team that’s pretty set at linebacker, but if he makes the team out of camp he could definitely be a contributor on special teams.
Unfortunately for Sapp, about the only way he’s going to make an impact on defense would be if the injuries start piling up for the Cowboys.
But then again, you’re not looking to pad your depth chart when you sign an undrafted free agent.
