One of the Vols’ top 2015 recruiting targets (Zach Gentry) committed to Texas on Monday so Tennessee responded by offering five-star 2016 quarterback Jacob Eason on Tuesday.
Eason is a 6’5″/205 lb pro-style quarterback from Lake Stevens, WA (Lake Stevens SR). 247Sports rates him as the top 2016 pro-style quarterback in the nation.
Eason, as you’d expect from the top pro-style quarterback in the country, has a very strong and accurate arm. It’s going to be hard for the Vols to land him over the likes of Alabama, Florida State, and Miami.
The one thing that is in the Vols’ favor are the incredible weapons at wide receiver that Tennessee is stockpiling.
Throwing the ball to Josh Malone and Preston Williams has to be enticing to any quarterback recruit.
The Vols are the fourth SEC team to offer Eason so far.
It will obviously be a long time before Eason commits. I think Tennessee offering him fairly early can only help their chances.
