Deerfield Beach, FL (Deerfield Beach) native Jason Strowbridge was offered by Tennessee on Thursday.
Stowbridge is a 2015 three-star defensive end. He stands 6’4″ and weighs 247 lbs.
247Sports rates Stowbridge as the 87th best player in Florida and the 36th best strong-side defensive end in the nation.
Defensive end is a continued position of need for the Vols. They severely lack depth long their defensive line. It could be several years before the defensive line is at the level it needs to be in SEC play.
On the surface Stowbridge doesn’t look like a stud defensive end, but Butch Jones and Tennessee obviously see some potential there.
In just over a year of covering Jones and the UT staff, I’ve learned not to question the players they offer.
Stowbridge will obviously need to add some weight, but he does have some pass-rushing potential.
We’ll just have to wait and see if that translates at the next level.
Stowbridge has an impressive offer list, including Alabama, Florida, Miami, North Carolina and West Virginia, among several others.
If the Vols were to land the Florida native, he’d provide them with added depth and a potential starter as early as 2016.
