Quarterback Riley Ferguson had left the team and was expected to transfer.Last week, I couldn’t resist pointing out the oddity of having a four-way competition for a position at which transfers have become so fashionable.“You jinxed us,” Jones joked Tuesday night when conference coaches, administrators, and media gathered for a pool-side social at the San Destin Hilton Hotel.Ferguson’s departure underscores the significance of Nathan Peterman remaining at UT. "Now that Riley Ferguson has apparently decided Tennessee is not for him, the Vols’ future at quarterback just got a lot murkier.And, really, not so much for this upcoming season. The feeling among the Tennessee coaches coming out of the spring was that senior Justin Worley would be their starter. The Vols played their best football a year ago when Worley was healthy.He’ll have more playmakers around him this season and has both the experience and right stuff mentally to more than adequately man the quarterback position for the Vols in 2014.It’s the 2015 season that should have Butch Jones and the Big Orange Nation on alert.Read more at ESPN"

"Tennessee senior shortstop Madison Shipman and freshman catcher Annie Aldrete were named NFCA Division I All-Americans Wednesday as announced by the NFCA. Shipman was named a first-team NFCA Division I All-American and Aldrete earned second-team honors. In all 54 players from 32 different institutions were selected to one of three 2014 NFCA Division I All-American teams, the Association announced on Wednesday.Shipman is a three-time All-American, having earned first-team honors in 2013 and 2014 and second-team-honors in 2012. She is just the sixth Lady Vol to become a three-time All-American, joining Monica Abbott (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007), Raven Chavanne (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013), Tonya Callahan (2006, 2007, 2008), Lindsay Schutzler (2005, 2006, 2007) and Lauren Gibson (2011, 2012, 2013).Read more at The Daily Times"
