Vols Recruiting Target Torrance Gibson Blogs For USA Today
By Zach Ragan
The Vols’ top 2015 recruiting target, five-star quarterback Torrance Gibson, does it all. He’s the top dual-threat quarterback in the nation and he has his pick of pretty much any school in the nation.
Oh and now he’s blogging for USA Today.
Gibson, who told us last week that he will blog for USA Today “several times”, saw his first blog published on Monday. In the blog, Gibson reaffirms that Tennessee and Auburn are his co-leaders.
It was, however, reported on Sunday that Gibson has Auburn slightly ahead of the Vols at the top of his list.
Gibson just finished a visit to Auburn, so that’s the reason the Tigers slipped ahead of the Vols.
According to Gibson’s blog, the Florida native will soon be heading to Tennessee for quarterback camp. He also has an upcoming visit to Miami scheduled.
Perhaps the most important takeaway from Gibson’s blog is his response to the rumors that he was suspended from school.
"The only thing that is crazy is how rumors get put out that aren’t even a little bit true. I heard that I was suspended from school for getting into an altercation with a teacher. Then someone tweeted that I got into a fight at school and got suspended, but, of course, none of that stuff ever happened. I’ve learned to laugh; people love attention and they live off of that. I just laugh and keep it moving. It’s so crazy and so not something that I would do that it makes it even funnier."
Gibson also addressed the rumors that he will be committing early.
"I’ve been hearing that I’ll commit early before the season too, and I’ve never said that either. I’m not committing that early"
The five-star quarterback told us last week that he plans to commit after his senior season. Which means this recruiting battle could go all the way up to National Signing Day.
