Tennessee Football: Quinten Dormady Commits To Vols
By Zach Ragan
2015 pro-style quarterback Quinten Dormady, 6’4″/208 lbs, committed to the Tennessee Volunteers on Monday evening.
Dormady , Boerne, TX (Boerne), is rated as a four-star quarterback by 247Sports and the fifth best pro-style quarterback in the nation.
Dormady just recently picked up an offer from the Vols and then visited shortly after. Apparently the Vols made quite an impression on the Texas native, securing a commitment just a few days later.
Tennessee beat out schools such as Alabama, Kentucky, Oklahoma State and Vanderbilt for Dormady’s commitment.
This just proves that Butch Jones doesn’t necessarily need a dual-threat quarterback to run his offense (as he showed at Cincinnati).
The Vols desperately needed a quarterback in 2015 and now they potentially have two (Jauan Jennings, who could also play on the defensive side).
I would expect the Volunteers to also continue recruiting 2015 dual-threat quarterback Torrance Gibson.
However, I don’t believe Gibson will be quite the priority that he was prior to Dormady’s commitment.
Remember, Butch Jones and the UT staff aren’t star gazers, so don’t get caught up too much in the four-star versus five-star debate. These guys trust their own instincts, just as they should.
