The player that most Tennessee Volunteers fans are probably most anxious to see this fall is true freshman running back Jalen Hurd.
Hurd, who is from Hendersonville, TN (Beech), is coming to Tennessee with a lot of high expectations.
The Vols are hoping the 6’3″ running back can be a dominant rusher at the SEC level.
As a freshman, Hurd will play second fiddle to senior Marlin Lane.
But don’t let that temper your expectations for Hurd as a freshman. The Vols will still lean on him heavily and he will get his fair share of touches.
Given Hurd’s size, he could be used quite often in goal line situations. That could inflate his touchdown numbers a bit.
I think Hurd’s touches will increase as the season goes along, but for now he should finish second on the team in rushing yards.
