Vols 2014 Stat Projections: Marquez North
By Zach Ragan
Tennessee’s most valuable offensive asset last season was arguably Marquez North. North, who will be a sophomore this season, quickly made his mark as a true freshman. His circus like catches last season not only had him in Sportscenter’s Top 10 at different times, but his one-handed catch against South Carolina propelled the Vols to their first victory over a ranked opponent since 2009. The North Carolina native should be even more productive this season. He’ll be the center of the offense and this year he’ll have some help as the Vols have brought in true freshman Josh Malone and JuCo transfer Von Pearson to line up opposite North. Regardless of who is starting at quarterback for the Vols this season, the passing game will be much improved. North led the Vols in receiving last season and I’d expect him to the do the same again this year. His numbers were modest for a freshman last season, but this should be a breakout year for the former four-star recruit.
