The Vols were once high on the list for Deondre Francois, but once Quinten Dormady committed to Tennessee, things changed with Francois.

Francois, a 4-star pro-style QB, is the No. 152 overall player in the nation, and while he’s listed as a pro-style quarterback, he’s rated as a dual-threat QB because of his ability to run the ball. The 247Sports Composite ratings has him as the No. 6 dual-threat QB in the country.

The Orlando, Florida native boasts offers from 22 different schools. He too may need some work at the QB position, but he appears to be more suited to play QB than any other position.

As a junior, Francois threw for 1,373 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. He also added 102 yards rushing (according to Max Preps). At 6-1, 195 lbs, Francois has a good build to be a QB, but he needs to polish off his mechanics, especially when it pertains to his accuracy.

At one point, Tennessee was making a great effort to land Francois, even inviting him to visit the campus in the summer. Once Quinten Dormady pledged himself to the Vols, however, Francois backed off and now appears to no longer be considering the Vols.

Currently, the frontrunners for Francois are Oregon, Auburn, Florida State, and Notre Dame, The Irish once made Francois a top priority, but once they received a commitment from Blake Barnett, they backed off. But Barnett flipped to Alabama, and since then Notre Dame has started pursuing Francois heavily, but the other three schools are believed to be his top choices. But don’t be surprised if Notre Dame becomes a major player once again.

Will the Vols get back in the battle for Francois? It’s highly unlikely, but anything is possible when it comes to recruiting quarterbacks.
