Torrance Gibson Moves Up Commitment; Sets Date

Torrance Gibson, the nation’s top rated athlete (according to 247Sports) announced on Sunday that he will be committing on October 20.

The Vols already have two quarterbacks committed (Quinten Dormady and Jauan Jennings, the latter of which could end up at safety) to their 2015 recruiting class and despite what some folks may say, there’s no way they will pass on Torrance Gibson.

Of course the big question is where would Gibson play if he committed to Tennessee. He seems adamant about playing quarterback at the next level, though he did take wide receiver reps at The Opening last week.

Gibson told SB Nation last week that Tennessee still wants him as a quarterback.

In the long run, I think it clearly makes more sense for Gibson to play wide receiver. There is no doubt he’s a beyond gifted athlete, but he’s very, very raw as a quarterback.

Gibson will likely be choosing between Auburn, Ohio State and Tennessee.

The Florida native has said on several occasions that Tennessee is his leader, but I still think Auburn ends up landing him on National Signing Day when it matters most.
