Vols Recruiting: Chad Clay Offered By Tennessee

Chad Clay, a 2016 four-star cornerback from Marietta, GA (Walton), was recently offered by the Tennessee Volunteers.

Clay, 6’1″/180 lbs, is rated by 247Sports as the 17th best player in the state of Georgia and the 17th best cornerback in the nation. He currently holds notable offers from Clemson, Georgia Tech, Nebraska, Ohio State and Texas A&M.

So far there have been three 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions made for Clay and they all have the Clemson Tigers landing the talented Georgia native.

The Vols have had a lot of luck recruiting in Georgia recently. Butch Jones has made regional recruiting a priority and has pulled players like Josh Dobbs, Cortez McDowell and Treyvon Paulk out of the Peach State. Jones has also secured 2015 commitments from Georgia natives Preston Williams, Andrew Butcher, Quay Picou and Austin Smith.

While that success may end up having no bearing on Clay’s college decision, it is a good sign that Tennessee has such a strong presence in the state.

If the Vols want to be successful in the SEC, recruiting well in Georgia has to be a priority.

So far, that’s exactly what Butch Jones has done.
