1. Christian Kirk

The highest rated target the Vols are still pursuing at the receiver position is the speedy and versatile Christian Kirk.

Kirk is a 4-star wide receiver out of Scottsdale, Arizona. He’s ranked as the No. 38 overall player and 6th best receiver in the country. He was one of the participants in The Opening two weeks ago, and he impressed scouts with his speed and hands.

Kirk is an incredibly versatile athlete, and he has played all over the field in high school. He’s lined up at receiver, running back, cornerback, and a punt and kick returner. At 5-10, 191 lbs, Kirk has good size to play any of those positions at the next level, and his 4.49 second time for the 40-yard dash shows his exceptional speed as well. As a junior, Kirk amassed 1,164 receiving yards on 65 receptions, scoring 17 times. He also ran for 825 yards and scored 13 rushing touchdowns.

On defense, Kirk registered 50 tackles, a tackle for a loss, half a sack, 2 interceptions, 5 pass break ups, and a fumble recovery. Finally, Kirk also added 170 punt return yards on just 4 punt returns, and he scored a touchdown on 3 of his 4 returns. For his three-year high school career, Kirk has scored a total of 57 touchdowns, and that’s with him only scoring 8 as a freshman (all according to Max Preps).

Needless to say, Kirk is a highly-sought-after commodity for the 2015 class. His wide range of skills will allow him to fit in on any team, and he has his pick of schools.

Nearly every top program in the country has shown interest in Kirk and has extended him a scholarship offer, as he boasts 37 offers in total. Ohio State, Texas A&M, USC, Alabama, Notre Dame, Stanford, Georgia, and Oklahoma are just some of the schools who have offered Kirk so far.

On June 3rd, Kirk named his top ten, which included Texas A&M, Ohio State, USC, Tennessee, Auburn, Oklahoma, Georgia, Arizona State, UCLA, and Stanford (in no particular order). Since then, Kirk has visited Texas A&M and Ohio State.

Right now, Texas A&M and Ohio State are the perceived favorites to land Kirk, with USC making some strong moves as well. The Vols are in Kirk’s leaders, but they may have some ground to make up if they want to add his prolific services.
