Vols @ Ole Miss Game Preview

The Vols travel down to Oxford, Mississippi on October 18th to take on the Rebels in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.  With both teams possibly coming in at 4-2, this game could potentially carry a lot of weight on where each team goes bowling at the end of the season.  Ole Miss has aspirations of reaching their 1st SEC Championship game, while UT just hopes to reverse the bad fortune it has had over the last half-a-decade plus.

Ole Miss returns Senior QB Bo Wallace and Sophomore WR Laquon Treadwell on Offense.  Treadwell, a Freshman All-American last season, has a ton of upside and is considered one of the top WR’s in the conference.  Sophomore Laremy Tunsil is an All-American candidate and anchor for the offensive line.

On defense, the Rebels return All-American Senior Safety Cody Prewitt to go along with a host of potential All-SEC caliber talent.  Sophomore DT Robert Nkemdiche is a force up front and his brother Denzel Nkemdiche and Serderius Bryant were All-SEC picks at the LB position a season ago.

Going on the road in the SEC is never an easy thing to do.  Having to deal with unfamiliar confines, traveling, and a hostile crowd are obstacles not many teams can overcome in this conference.  The Ole Miss fans can get rowdy…especially after a day of pre-gaming in The Grove.  For UT to be successful and have a chance to win, they must block out the noise and focus on the task-at-hand.  Prediction: Tennessee battles for 4 quarters, but Ole Miss has the home field advantage in the end.  Rebels win 34-31 in OT.  The Vols fall to 4-3 and will head back home to face Alabama on October 25th.
