4. Brian Randolph vs. Western Kentucky

The Tennessee-Western Kentucky game will forever be remembered for the amazing turnover binge the Vols instigated against the Hilltoppers.

In a span of about 8 minutes of game time, the Vols forced 5 turnovers and returned two interceptions for scores. The Vols would go on to win 52-20, but not before the Hilltoppers would threaten to cut the Tennessee lead in the second half.

Twice Western Kentucky QB Brandon Doughty threw into Tennessee’s endzone in the second half, and twice Vols safety Brian Randolph was there to intercept the ball.

Randolph finished the day with 8 tackles, two interceptions, and a pass breakup. His two interceptions are a career high, and they were critical picks that stifled drives in the redzone.

Randolph’s performance against Western Kentucky shows why he is one of the most important defenders on the Vols’ roster. He was the anchor for last season’s secondary, and he will be expected to be the same in 2014.
