Vols May Name Starting QB this week

Fans of the Tennessee Volunteers may finally learn this week who will line up under center when the Vols take field against Utah State on August 31.

Jones said he would name a quarterback when someone stood up and took a stronghold on the job.

If that is what’s happened, then it’s a great sign for the Vols.

It’s been my belief, since spring practice, that senior Justin Worley will win the job.

And that is still my belief.

Especially with Jones potentially naming a starter three weeks before the start of the season.

Even though Nathan Peterman’s had a great week of practice, I don’t think he’ll be the guy that Jones announces as the starter.

If it was Peterman, I believe the decision would be made the week of the Utah State game and not 20 days before.

Worley, who easily has the most experience on the team, will give the Vols their best chance to make a bowl game this season.

I think it’s the right move for Jones to go ahead and name the starter.

This is definitely a big positive for team 118.
