Highly touted Tennessee wide receiver Von Pearson exited Saturday’s game against Arkansas State with an apparent injury to his left ankle.
Pearson, a JuCo transfer in his first season with the Vols, hurt his ankle while blocking for Pig Howard. The junior wide receiver was down for several moments on the field, before being helped to the sidelines.
Trainers wrapped Pearson’s ankle in ice on the sidelines. He was then given a pair of crutches and escorted to the locker room.
Pearson had four catches for 71 yards before he was injured. That includes a 56 yard reception off the arm of Justin Worley.
The Virginia native is not a player the Vols can afford to lose. He looked to be Worley’s favorite target before being injured.
Hopefully for the Vols it’s just a sprain and not a fracture.
We will update you on Pearson’s status when we know more.
Update:
Butch Jones had no post-game update on Von Pearson. He said he’d know more on Saturday night or Sunday.
