After just two games, Vols true freshman running back Jalen Hurd is proving he is worth all the hype that was directed his way during his recruiting process.
Hurd was named the SEC freshman of the week on Monday, after he rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown in a win against Arkansas State this past Saturday.
Congrats to @MrHurd_1 on being @SEC Freshman of Week. He's #Vols first RB since @ArianFoster in 2005 to earn honor pic.twitter.com/CAuFRcWKkX

The Hendersonville, TN native is listed as the backup to senior running back Marlin Lane, but Hurd actually has 10 more rushing attempts than Lane so far this season.
Hurd has rushed for 112 yards this year and caught two passes for 16 yards. He has two total touchdowns. He’s only averaging 3.3 yards per carry, but that’s mostly due to an inexperienced offensive line. That average should go up as the offensive line progresses this season.
The freshman sensation is off to a great start. The Vols look like they’ve finally found their future stud running back.
