Tennessee Vols @ Georgia Bulldogs: Live Blog

The Tennessee Volunteers are all set to take on the Georgia Bulldogs.

The Vols are looking to end a four game losing streak to the Bulldogs.

Tennessee’s last win in the series came in 2009, when Lane Kiffin was the head coach at Tennessee.

But that seems like a decade ago now. The Vols are ushering in a new era under Butch Jones and a win in Athens would certainly be the biggest moment, so far, during Jones’ tenure.

We invite you to join us for the game today. Hang out with us in the comment section below, as we give live updates on the game!

TV Info

Vols in all white today.

Special guest in town today, former Vol quarterback Peyton Manning.

Looks like true freshman wide receiver Josh Malone might be getting his first start today.

A tradition unlike any other….

It’s official

Vols looking good early. Solid playcalling on first drive, leading to a field goal. Then, a great defensive stand, forcing the Bulldogs to punt.

Tennessee with another great looking drive, capped by a Jalen Hurd touchdown run. 10-0 Vols.

A good punt return gives Georgia great field position and they made it count. Gurley had several tough runs, before Mason capped off the drive with a touchdown run. 10-7 Vols.

Vols with the first turnover of the day, true freshman Todd Kelly with the INT.

Georgia takes the lead on a Todd Gurley touchdown. 14-10 Bulldogs.

Bulldogs with another touchdown. 21-10 Georgia.

Vols with a huge touchdown. Jason Croom pulls the Vols to within four. 21-17 Georgia leads just before the half.

HALFTIME: Georgia 21 Tennessee 17

Thoughts:

When the Vols are throwing short, they are moving the ball well. They can’t afford to keep getting in third and long situations. The offense hit a lull in the first half, but they closed strong, thanks to Jalen Hurd. The delayed handoff to Hurd seems to be working well. I’d go to that more in the second half. Today is not Marlin Lane’s day, he hasn’t been effective at all. Marquez North needs to be a factor in the second half.

As far as defense goes, the Vols are getting whipped. AJ Johnson did not have a good first half at all. Jalen Reeves-Maybin and Todd Kelly were easily the defensive MVP’s of the first half. Cam Sutton was a non-factor, mostly because Georgia didn’t throw his way. Tackling, overall, was terrible. You can’t arm tackle Todd Gurley. Vols have to get better pressure on Mason in the second half.

Second half

Cam Sutton starts the second half with a huge INT

Justin Worley is injured and Nate Peterman is in the game for the Vols.

Gurley puts Georgia up 11 with a long TD run (28-17). Looks like Justin Worley will come back into the game.

Justin Worley to Pig Howard for a HUGE touchdown. 28-25 Georgia leads.

Georgia recovers fumble in the end zone for a TD 35-25

Worley to North for TD 35-32 Georgia leads
