The Vols may have lost the game Saturday, but they continue to win on the recruiting trail.
Tennessee added another in-state prospect to their 2015 class late Wednesday night, picking up a commitment from 3-star athlete Vincent Perry of Nashville.
The 5’9″, 170 lbs. all purpose back is rated as the No. 578 overall player in the country and 17th best prospect in the state according to 247Sports. Perry held offers from Illinois State, Kentucky, and Mercer as well, but he has been garnering attention from teams like LSU, Ole Miss, and Florida State.
Perry is also the teammate of highly-rated in-state prospect Kyle Phillips, a 4-star defensive end who is rated the No. 2 player in Tennessee.
The reason Perry isn’t rated higher is due to two main factors. One is because he only played on a limited basis as a junior due to high school transfer rules. The other is due to an ACL injury that required surgery in February.
Perry was finally able to prove himself this season when he took the field in early September, carrying the ball 9 times for 85 yards and a score and adding 3 receptions for 42 yards.
Perry’s pledge gives the Vols 25 known commitments for the 2015 class, and he becomes the 8th prospect from Tennessee in the 2015 class.
Below are highlights for Perry so far in the 2014 season. He displays good footwork, superb burst, and a knack for finding extra yards. With his growing stock, he could be a surprise recruit in the 2015 class.
