Joe Henderson Away From Vols For “Personal Reasons”

True freshman defensive end Joe Henderson is currently away from the Volunteers due to “personal reasons”.

Henderson has not appeared in a game for the Vols this season. He’s currently on track to redshirt this season.
The Ohio native was rated as a four-star recruit (247Sports) coming out of Shaker Heights High School in Cleveland. Henderson also had scholarship offers from Arkansas, Michigan State, Ole Miss and West Virginia, among several others.
All indications are that Henderson will eventually return to the team. We’ve seen this narrative before with Pig Howard and even though that situation looked bleak at one time, it still turned out positive for the Vols.
Henderson has a ton of potential as a defensive end. He hasn’t contributed this season because he’s simply a guy that needed to bulk up in order to be a defensive end at the SEC level.
