Vols Football: Joe Henderson Update

On Sunday, the University of Tennessee confirmed that true freshman defensive end Joe Henderson is currently away from the team for personal reasons.

Vols head coach Butch Jones further addressed Henderson’s situation on Monday during his weekly press conference.

Jones stated that Henderson was pulled from practice by the NCAA and that he needs to fulfill some academic requirements. Jones said he wasn’t allowed to say anymore than that.

It sounds like Henderson, who is on track to redshirt this season, will eventually be allowed to return to the team.

Henderson is a former four-star recruit from Cleveland, OH (Shaker Heights). After a year of being in the strength program at Tennessee, he should be a guy that contributes to the Vols’ defensive line.

Tennessee will definitely need Henderson next season from a depth standpoint.
