Today On Rocky Top: Can Vols Fans Checker Vanderbilt’s Stadium?

"After the success of the “Checker Neyland” fan initiative last week against Florida, Vols fans apparently have big plans for Tennessee’s season finale against Vanderbilt on Nov. 29.On Sunday night, a comment on 247sports.com’s Vols message board called for Tennessee fans to form a checkerboard pattern at Vanderbilt Stadium by alternating orange and white sections. Fans later found a seating map for the stadium and began diagramming which sections would be instructed to wear which color.As of 5:30 p.m. Monday, the hashtag #CheckerVandy had been used 147 times on Twitter. Tennessee has experienced two different sides of the coin  in the last 10 years with players like Jesse Mahelona and Cordarelle Patterson (CP Flash. What a cool nickname. Let’s say it to ourselves. “CP Flash”, see I told you. So cool), being on another level versus the competition. Tennessee has also experienced the ugly side of the side with players like Kenny O’Neal (#1 WR in JUCO and 5 star player according to Rivals in 2006) when looking to JUCO to fix lack of talent or depth at a position. Plugging JUCO offensive tackles in to fill a hole is easier said than done. Tennessee looked to the JUCO ranks to try to plug a hole at left tackle in the 2014 signing class, when dominant left tackle Tiny Richardson decided to declare early for the NFL draft.Read more at the Swain Event"
