Alabama @ Tennessee Vols: Live Blog

The Tennessee Vols will be looking to break a seven game losing streak against the Alabama Crimson Tide when the two teams meet on Saturday night.

Obviously the matchup between Tennessee and Alabama is a big one. With this game being such a rivalry game, it’s huge anytime these two teams get together. No matter how good or bad the other team happens to be.

But there’s an added dimension this year — the return of Lane Kiffin.

Both Butch Jones and Nick Saban downplayed Kiffin’s return this past week, but it’s still a major storyline, judging from the plethora of media coverage this week.

I imagine the novelty of Kiffin’s return will wear off pretty quick once the game begins.

Tennessee will have their hands full with Alabama, who is coming off a 59-0 win against Texas A&M. Throw into the mix the fact that starting Vols quarterback Justin Worley might not play, and who knows what to expect from UT on Saturday night.

• Justin Worley is listed as starting QB, but still considered doubtful.
• Brett Kendrick is listed as starting left tackle and Kyler Kerbyson is listed as starting right tackle (Jacob Gilliam is backup RT).
• Jalen Hurd, Derrell Scott and Marlin Lane are your running backs, in that order.

Judging from the Tweet below, it looks like the Vols will be going with Orange jerseys tonight (no word on which color pants the team will wear). That means the smokey grays will have to wait another week.

Nathan Peterman took first team reps in pregame, with Josh Dobbs taking second team reps.

Nathan Peterman was just officially named the starter for tonight’s game.

Vols get the ball first, after Alabama wins the toss and defers.

Alabama gets on the board first with a 80 yard touchdown pass from Sims to Cooper. They miss the extra point and lead 6-0 in the first quarter.

Cooper again, this time for 41 yards. Tide leads 13-0 in the first.

End of first quarter, Bama leads 20-0.

Sims keeps it for a TD after Bama gets the ball on a Dobbs fumble. 27-0 Alabama leads in the 2nd quarter.

Josh Dobbs hits Josh Malone for his first career touchdown. The play was set up by a 44 yard Marlin Lane rush. 27-7 Bama in the second quarter.

Medley hits a FG as time expires in the half. Bama leads 27-10.

Vols have a great first possession of the half and get a TD. Dobbs to Pearson. 27-17 Alabama leads.

Alabama answers with a 27 yard TD run. Bama leads 34-17.

North drops a wide open TD and the Vols have to settle for a FG. 34-20 Alabama leads in the fourth quarter.
