Vols Football: Butch Jones Expects Marlin Lane To Play
By Zach Ragan
The last time we saw Vols running back Marlin Lane in game, he was being carted off the field.
Any time a player is carted off the field, the immediate thought is a season-ending injury.
Fortunately for the Vols, that’s not the case with Lane.
Butch Jones said on Tuesday, after practice, that he sees no reason why Lane wouldn’t play on Saturday.
Lane hasn’t been Tennessee’s most productive runner this season (that would be Jalen Hurd), but the Vols can’t afford to lose any depth at running back.
Tennessee’s third running back, Derrell Scott, is dealing with a thumb injury, according to Jones. He’ll be available, but limited.
A long season is starting to take it’s toll on the Vols’ youth. The bye week certainly came at the perfect time, as the Vols attempt to win two of their final three games, in order to become bowl eligible for the first time since 2010.
