Josh Woodward of Tennessee’s Scout.com site “Inside Tennessee” first reported that 5-star wide receiver and Vols class of 2015 commit Preston Williams will have surgery to repair his ACL and LCL next week.

Not long after, Michael Carvell of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution picked up the news, and Bleacher Report ran with it from there.

The extent of Williams’ injury has not been specified, nor has a timetable for his recovery been offered. But the Vols are not expected to pull their scholarship offer, and he has reportedly informed coaches of his surgery.

Williams is rated the No. 19 overall prospect in the country and No. 2 overall wide receiver according to 247Sports. Williams committed to the Vols over a year ago, and he was in the midst of yet another impressive season before the injury occured.
