Report: Donnie Tyndall Set To Meet With NCAA

According to a report from ESPN’s Jeff Goodman, Vols head coach Donnie Tyndall will meet with NCAA officials next week to discuss rules violations that allegedly occurred during Tyndall’s tenure at Southern Mississippi.

Tyndall, who according to Goodman has retained an attorney, has repeatedly said he would fully cooperate with the NCAA.

Tennessee athletic director Dave Hart confirmed to the Knoxville News Sentinel that the NCAA will be in town to speak with Tyndall. Hart also told the News Sentinel that after the NCAA talks to Tyndall, “We still won’t know anything. Eventually they will tell us, ‘OK, here’s what we think happened.’ And they will share information at that point in time.”

It’s still very early in the process and I don’t think it’s time for Vol fans to panic just yet. Though it’s understandable why some fans are already looking at life after Tyndall.

Tennessee’s had run-ins before with the NCAA that didn’t go in the Vols’ favor. There’s nothing to indicate this will be something major, but there’s also no sense of security that it’s “nothing”.

There are still too many unanswered questions to even hypothesize a potential outcome.

Unfortunately for Vol fans, this is something that could take a while to play out.

And speaking of playing, the Volunteers will take on #15 VCU on Friday night in Annapolis, MD.
