Vol Target Commits To Ohio State

Tennessee is living through a Monday they’d certainly like to forget.

The Vols missed out on one of their top remaining targets as 2015 four-star offensive tackle Matthew Burrell committed to Ohio State on Monday evening.

Burrell was reportedly choosing between Ohio State, Penn State and Tennessee.

The Vols had gained some momentum with the Woodbridge, VA (C. D. Hylton) native in the past couple of months. Burrell took an official visit to Tennessee on October 4 for the Volunteers game against Florida. He appeared to enjoy himself quite a bit, mingling with some of Tennessee’s 2015 commits.

Unfortunately for the Vols, that wasn’t enough to sway Burrell down south.

Tennessee will now put the full court press on Ole Miss commit Drew Richmond. The Vols severely need to sign another tackle in their 2015 class and Richmond is clearly the best option on the board (not many folks consider his commitment to Ole Miss a “firm” one).

Missing on Burrell is a big loss for the Vols, but they still have a quality 2015 class on the horizon.
